Cluttered Drawer: 1.2.0 Cuppi update
August was a very busy month at JackiePoot; our goal was to completely redesign and rebuild the Receipts feature following a seven-month testing phase. We learnt that finding a universal solution is extremely challenging and that we needed a much smarter way to deal with the diverse, complex world of British receipts.
Receipts Enhanced by Cuppi
Receipts are now processed in two steps: local on-device processing, followed by optional server-side processing. If the on-device itemisation doesn't hit our quality threshold, Cuppi will offer additional server processing to enhance the results.
Our testing shows that accuracy can be raised to an average of 90%. We tested long and complex receipts, including those with discounts and voided items, across both digital formats and paper, and found that the itemisation capture was nearly perfect.
When quality did drop, the usual culprits were the captured images themselves (distorted angles, damaged print, or low resolution). To help, we’ve put together a few tips and tricks on how to make digitising your receipts easier.
Guarantee, Check
You can now flag items on a receipt that have a guarantee or warranty and set their expiry dates. These items are marked with a shield icon that changes colour over time:
- Green: More than 2 weeks remaining
- Orange: Less than 2 weeks remaining
- Red: Expired
Search All Receipts with Filters
We created a dedicated page to make searching your receipts much easier. You can now track down past receipts by store name, purchase date, total amount, barcode, or specific line items. We’ve also added flexible sorting and filtering options.
Monthly Budget Overview
See at a glance how much money you have left for your monthly shopping. Set your targets easily in Settings, or configure dedicated Shopping and Household budgets directly inside the Budget tab. Whenever you save a receipt, Cuppi will instantly show your remaining spend at the end of the capture flow.
Subscription Transparency
As Cuppi adds more features, we want to be completely transparent about what’s included with your Cuppi Home. On the Subscription page, you can now clearly view your household limits across both Free and Pro tiers.
New Notifications System
Managing scheduled notifications reliably is tricky. Because iOS limits how many scheduled notifications an app can queue, we built a brand-new system that works seamlessly even for the busiest households.
Whenever you open Cuppi, your Companion checks your household data, reviews your notifications, and refreshes them as needed. Notifications are now priority-based, and Cuppi will let you know if you need to pop into the app to schedule more before you run out.
