Party Popper: 1.2.1 Cuppi Home update

Cuppi Home's new 1.2.1 Party Popper update brings Pet Safety, Bank Holidays, Anniversaries into the spotlight. Budget received a long awaited smart upgrade.

After a record-breaking, non-stop heatwave, we’ve finally stepped into crisp, cool days with early sunsets - patiently waiting for Christmas while sipping on our pumpkin spice lattes.

As we approach the most expensive time of the year, I decided to focus on two key areas: Budgets and our well-deserved days off.

Bank Holidays & Anniversaries

Who doesn’t love a Bank Holiday? We all count down the days, whether it’s for a Summer Bank Holiday or Christmas Day. Good news: Cuppi now shows and reminds you of these exact dates.

As part of this big overhaul, Birthdays expanded into Celebrations. This change allowed me to pack in not just Bank Holidays, but Anniversaries too.

Now, you can see upcoming Bank Holidays and their countdowns, and even choose which calendar to follow: England, Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland. Fancy seeing them all? There’s an option for that too!

We all have heart-warming moments in our lives that we look back on with joy. Anniversaries allow you to create dedicated profiles for those moments -whether you want to pair up people for wedding reminders or simply save the date you got the keys to your first home.

The best part? You are completely in control. You can choose exactly when and how you’d like to be pinged beforehand, giving you plenty of time to plan or pick up a thoughtful gift.

And the best news for last: with the introduction of Celebrations, we’ve bumped up the Free tier limits from 10 to 50 profiles, and for Pro subscribers, from 50 to 200!

Budgets. Scary, boring, and uuhhhhhh… not anymore.

I spent a lot of time thinking about how to improve Budgets without overcomplicating things. Budgets already have a reputation for being tedious - so what if we auto-generated them, keeping your monthly admin down to just 3–4 minutes?

Thanks to your Companion, a preview post will appear on your Home Feed 3 days before a new budget cycle starts, detailing all changes in your upcoming outgoings.

Tap Review to open the Budget Review page. Scroll through your items, quickly adjust anything that’s changed, and hit Approve. You’ll also get a notification so you never miss this super-quick check-in.

Didn’t get round to reviewing it? No problem. Cuppi will auto-approve the budget for you, keeping everything steady. You can, of course, pop in and tweak things at any time.

Throughout the month, you’ll see a countdown above your Budget card showing when the next review is due. You can open it anytime to manage outgoings, and your Companion will reflect those updates during review time. It’s completely transparent for all adult household members.

Pets, when something happens

We all dread that moment when a beloved pet comes home after a fight or is feeling unwell. In high-stress moments, it’s hard to focus or remember who to call.

Cuppi now lets you save not just your primary vet’s details, but a dedicated 24/7 Emergency Veterinary phone number complete with a safety slide and instant-call button. Set it up once, and it’s right there when every second counts. A little extra peace of mind goes a long way.

SssllllPrrrpPrprPING. Oh, the notification melody

Custom notification sounds have arrived! We love a good sound effect, and this feature was a long time coming. Enjoy cheerful new pings for Pet Medication reminders, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Bank Holidays, and a satisfying tadaaa when marking off medication. I hope these bring a little smile whenever you hear them!

And everything else

As usual, Cuppi is smoother and more stable than ever, packed with security patches and performance fixes. I’ve also refined the design across several screens, added fluid new animations, and corrected a few rogue colours!
