Open Budgets, tap the Upcoming card, review the figures, then tap Approve budget at the bottom of the screen.
The household owner and Adults. Once one of them approves, it counts for the whole household.
In the last 3 days of your budget cycle, including the final day.
Approve budget only works inside this window. Before it opens, the button reads “Approval opens on {date}”. You can still edit the draft at any time.
Only the household owner and Adults. Children can’t see budgets or any financial data.
Yes, at any time. If a bill goes up mid-month, you can update the draft straight away.
During Budget review, these changes will be shown inside the Review and on your Companion’s post on the Home Feed.
Cuppi Home asks you to confirm first. With automatic renewal on, a new draft will be prepared.
To stop that, turn off Auto-renew in Budget Settings first.
Once the new cycle starts, the draft is approved automatically. It shows an Auto-approved label so you can see it happened.
You’ll only ever get one draft. Cuppi Home makes sure the same month can’t be created twice.
Cuppi creates the current month’s budget (already approved) and the next month’s draft, both based on your latest budget. Months in between aren’t created. They show as greyed-out Skipped rows in History.
On the review screen for next month’s budget, Check these lists the items most likely to need updating. Each has a tag:
An item appears once only. If it qualifies for both, Back to usual is shown.
Where else do I see this?
The budget post in your feed counts these items, for example “2 items to check”, during the review window.
Who can see this?
Only the household owner and Adults.
It lists how the draft differs from the budget it was copied from:
One-off items that simply aren’t repeating aren’t counted as removals, and a one-month spike that dropped back isn’t counted as a price change.
Cuppi asks you to choose:
When should I use each option?
Only the household owner and Adults. Children can’t see budgets.
A bill whose amount depends on how much you use, such as electricity, gas etc (for example you use top-up). Most items are fixed (the same each month) and that is the default.
Open the item in your budget and set its amount type to Usage-based.
Mark it as Only this month. It will not be copied into later budgets.
If you change your mind later:
Edit the item again and pick the other option. Next month’s draft updates accordingly, unless you’ve already edited that item in the draft yourself.
On the review screen for the upcoming budget, and in the budget Companion post in your feed during the review window. The feed post shows around five rows, then “and {number} more”.
Cuppi Home copies your current budget into a draft for the next cycle. The draft appears at the top of Budgets as Upcoming, from the first day of your current cycle. Automatic renewal is on by default.
Switch off Auto-renew in Budget Settings.
Cuppi Home will stop preparing drafts, sending budget reminders and showing the budget post in your feed. Budgets go back to being created manually.
If automatic budget renewal is on, you get two push notifications per cycle, each at 9am your time:
Only the household owner and Adults. Children never receive budget notifications.
Reminders are skipped once the budget is approved, so nobody else is nudged after that.
Go to App Settings > Notifications > Budget and switch off Budget review reminders.
This only affects you, not other members of your household. The Budget section isn’t shown to children.
Yes.
During the review window, owners and Adults see a budget smart post in the feed while the budget is unapproved. It shows how many items need checking and lists what has changed. Its button opens the review screen.
You can hide it for that cycle, and it disappears once the budget is approved.
Go to Budget Settings > Show price changes as and choose:
This is saved on your device only. A change from £0 is always shown as an amount.
Only the household owner and Adults can see this.
Scan or upload receipts, enhance them, search and track spending.
