The Pets feature in Cuppi is designed to help you organise your pet’s life by keeping medication schedules, vet contacts, insurance details, and vaccination records in one private, accessible place.

However, it is important to understand the intended use and limitations of these tools.

1. Convenience Only

Cuppi is a productivity and organisation app, not a veterinary or medical health application. The information you store regarding medications, dosages, and appointment times is for your personal convenience only.

2. Professional Guidance

Cuppi does not provide veterinary advice. Any information entered into the app should be based strictly on the guidance of a qualified veterinary professional. This app does not replace professional recommendations, and you should always consult your vet before making decisions regarding your pet's health or treatment.

3. Reminder & Notification Limitations

While Cuppi utilises the iOS notifications framework to send reminders, these notifications are handled by the device's operating system and are subject to various factors beyond the app's control, including:

  • System Delivery: iOS may delay or suppress notifications based on battery level, system resources, or internal priority logic.
  • User Settings: Notifications will not trigger effectively if the device is in Focus Mode, Do Not Disturb, or if "Allow Notifications" is disabled in the system settings.
  • Device Availability: Reminders will not function if the device is powered off or disconnected from necessary services.

4. The Requirement for Backups

You must not solely rely on Cuppi’s notification or storage features for time-sensitive medical care. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining a secondary, independent reminder system (such as a physical calendar or written note).
  • Manually verifying medication dosages and appointment times.
  • Ensuring you have a backup of critical insurance and vaccination documentation outside of the app.

5. Emergency Vet Details & Direct Dialing

The Pets feature allows you to store contact details for your designated out-of-hours or emergency veterinary service and initiate calls directly through the app interface. By using this functionality, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Hardware and Carrier Limitations: Direct-dial functionality relies entirely on your mobile device’s operating system, cellular network provider, signal coverage, and active service plan. Cuppi does not guarantee that phone calls can or will be successfully placed through the app interface.
  • Independent Physical Backup Required: Technical glitches, network failure, or device malfunction can prevent quick access to the app. You are solely responsible for maintaining an offline, secondary record of your emergency vet’s name, phone number, and address (e.g., printed, written physically, or saved directly to your primary phone contacts).
  • No Emergency Service Bridging: Cuppi is not a telecommunications provider, medical dispatch service, or emergency responder. Storage of contact information within the app does not guarantee veterinary availability, response times, or immediate medical assistance.

6. Limitation of Liability

By using the Pets feature, you acknowledge that Cuppi (and its developers) are not liable for any missed medications, missed appointments, or health complications resulting from the failure of a notification or the loss of data within the app. Your pet’s health remains your personal responsibility.

Whether they have four legs, wings, or scales, our pets are central to the rhythm of the home. Setting up a profile helps you offload the "mental load" of remembering microchip numbers and renewal dates, so you can focus on the bits that actually matter - like the Sunday walk or a quiet afternoon with the cat.

To create your pet's profile:

  1. Open the Pets app on the Apps page.
  2. Tap the + button in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Fill out your pet’s details:
    • Photo: Tap to add or change their profile picture.
    • Name: Enter their name as you'd like it to appear.
    • Type: Choose between Dog or Cat.
    • Sex: Select Male or Female.
    • Breed: This is optional, but helpful for insurance records.
    • Date of Birth: Setting this allows Cuppi to calculate their age automatically.
    • Microchip Number: You can type this in or use the camera icon to scan a barcode from your paperwork. (optional)
  4. Tap Save. Your data is now securely stored and shared with the rest of your household.

Daily interactions and features:

  • The Profile Card: Your pet's card on the home screen shows their name, breed, age (with date of birth), and microchip number at a glance. You can tap the microchip number to copy it instantly - perfect for when you're filling out forms at the vet.
  • Quick Administration: You’ll see tickboxes for upcoming medications directly on the pet card and your main Home Feed (Smart Posts by the Companion). You can record a dose without ever leaving your front page.
  • Feature Icons: From the profile, you can easily jump into specific trackers for Weight, Insurance, Vet details, Appointments, Vaccinations, and the Healing Tracker.

Removing a profile: If you need to delete a pet’s profile, tap the Edit button in the top right of their page, scroll to the bottom, and tap Remove Pet.

Please note: This is a permanent action. It will delete all associated data for that pet, including their medical history, photos, and insurance details, from both your device and your household cloud.

Keeping track of "jabs" and boosters shouldn't feel like a part-time job. Whether it’s an annual booster or a multi-dose course for a new arrival, Cuppi helps you organise your pet’s health schedule so you never have to guess when they’re next due.

The Instructions

To view and manage your pet's vaccinations:

  1. Open the Pets section and tap on your pet’s profile card.
  2. Tap the Vaccination icon (look for the blue syringe).
  3. On the main Vaccination page, you’ll see your Upcoming list. Each entry has a status dot to help you prioritise:
    • 🔴 Red: Overdue.
    • 🟡 Yellow: Due within the next 30 days.
    • 🟢 Green: Up to date.
  4. To see finished courses or stopped vaccinations, tap the Show finished courses button at the bottom.

Adding a new vaccination:

  1. Tap the orange circle pencil in the top right corner.
  2. Fill out the schedule details:
    • Vaccine Name: Choose from common options for cats and dogs or type in a custom name.
    • Next Vaccination Date: The date the next dose is due.
    • Schedule: Set how often the reminder should repeat (e.g., every 12 months for an annual booster).
    • Course Logic: If the vaccination is part of a limited course (like a set of three puppy shots), toggle Part of a Course? and enter the Total Doses and the Current Dose.
    • Notes: Add any specific details, like the name of the vet who administered the last dose.
  3. Tap Save. Your schedule is now synced to the cloud and reminders are set.

Recording a vaccination: When your pet has had their injection, you can update their records in two ways:

  • From the Pet Profile: Use the tickbox next to the vaccination name for a quick update.
  • From the Vaccination Detail: Tap the specific vaccination and select Mark as Administered. This will automatically calculate your next due date based on the schedule you set and move the current date into your History list.

Editing or stopping reminders:

  • Edit: Tap on any vaccination and then tap Edit in the top right to update the name, notes, or schedule.
  • Archive: If you no longer need reminders for a specific vaccine but want to keep the history, tap Stop / Archive. This stops all future notifications but keeps your past records safe.
  • Delete: If you need to remove a vaccination and all its history entirely, you can find the Delete Vaccination button at the bottom of the Edit screen.

Things to consider

  • Reminders: Cuppi will automatically send you a nudge 30 days before, 7 days before, and on the day a vaccination is due, so you have plenty of time to book that vet appointment.
  • History: Every time you mark a vaccination as complete, it is logged with the date and the name of the family member who recorded it, creating a permanent health diary for your pet.

Keeping track of pill schedules and dosage times is one of the heaviest parts of the "mental load" for any pet owner. Cuppi simplifies this by acting as your household’s shared medical diary, ensuring that everyone knows exactly what has been given and when - saving you from those "did you medicate the cat?" worries.

The Instructions

To add a new medication:

  1. Open Pets and tap on your pet’s profile card.
  2. Tap the Medication icon (the pink pills).
  3. Tap the + icon in the top right corner.
  4. Fill in the details:
    • Name & Type: Enter the medication name and select its type (e.g., pill, liquid, or spray).
    • Dosage: Note down the exact amount to be given.
    • Schedule: Set the frequency. For Daily medications, you can add multiple reminder times (e.g., 8:00 am and 6:00 pm) within a single profile.
    • Courses: If it's a short-term treatment, set an End Date. Cuppi will automatically archive the medication once the course is complete.
  5. Tap Save. Your schedule is now synced across the household.

Logging and skipping doses:

  • To mark as taken: Tap the tickbox next to the medication on the pet profile or the Home Feed (Smart Posts).
  • To skip a dose: Swipe left on the medication item and tap the orange Skip button. This records that the dose was missed.
  • To fix a mistake: If you log a dose by accident, tap the medication to open its profile. Scroll down to the History section, swipe left on the entry you want to remove, and tap the red Delete.

Viewing your history:

  • Stopped Medications: To see treatments from the past, tap Show stopped medications at the bottom of your active list.
  • Stop vs. Delete: Use the Stop medication button to keep all the history for your records while ending the reminders. If you choose to Delete, all data - including every past log for that medication - will be permanently wiped from the cloud.

Daily vs. Regular Medications

Cuppi helps you see what's urgent at a glance:

  • Daily Medications: These show the specific time of the dose in a rectangle.
  • Regular (Other) Medications: These show a "Due in" countdown.
  • Who gave it?: When a dose is logged, Cuppi records who administered it and the exact time. To keep everyone informed, the medication name will remain visible with a green mark and a strikethrough until the end of the day.

The Home Feed & Smart Posts

The Cuppi Companion creates Smart Posts on your feed for any due medications. You can tick them off directly from your front page. These posts stay active for 3 days to catch any overdue items before automatically disappearing.

Safety & Connectivity

Because pet safety is paramount, this feature requires an active internet connection.

  • Syncing for Safety: To prevent two people from giving the same dose, logging is temporarily blocked if you are offline. This ensures your pet only gets the medication they need.
  • Back-up Plan: While we take extreme care with our software, technology can have its moments. We strongly recommend having a secondary method to track life-critical medications. Always consult your vet and never rely solely on digital nudges for vital medical care.

Things to consider

  • Free Tier: To keep Cuppi private and independent, the Free and Trial tier allows for one active medication at a time. To manage multiple prescriptions, you’ll need a Cuppi Pro subscription.

It can be a bit worrying when you spot a new lump, a patch of balding fur, or a scratch that needs a watchful eye. The Healing Tracker is designed to give you one less thing to worry about by letting you document changes over time on a simple, private timeline - perfect for showing the vet at your next visit.

The Instructions

Starting a new tracker:

  1. Open the Pets section and tap on your pet’s profile card.
  2. Tap the Healing Tracker icon (look for the green band-aid).
  3. Tap the + icon in the top right corner to start a New Tracker.
  4. Give the tracker a clear name (such as "Right Paw Scratch") and select the start date. Tap Start to save it and create your new tracking box.

Recording and viewing updates:

  • Active Trackers: Your current issues are listed at the top. Each box shows you the name of the issue, how many updates you’ve recorded, and when you started.
  • Archived Trackers: If you’ve finished tracking something, you can find it by tapping the Show archived button at the bottom of the page.
  • The Timeline: Tapping on a tracker reveals its chronological timeline. You’ll see the date and time at the top of each entry, with your photos and notes clearly displayed below.

Comparing progress: Sometimes it’s hard to tell if a wound is truly mending just by looking at a single photo. HomeOS includes a clever comparison tool to help:

  1. Tap the Compare button in the top right corner of a tracker’s timeline.
  2. Select any two images from your history.
  3. Tap View in the top right to open the split-screen view. You can zoom in and pan around both images at the same time to spot subtle changes.
  4. Tap Close when you’re finished.

Amending or removing information:

  • Timeline Entries: If you need to fix a mistake or add more detail, long press on an entry in the timeline. This will bring up a menu where you can Edit (to update the date, time, notes, or photo) or Delete the entry entirely.
  • Deleting a Tracker: If you no longer need a specific tracker and want to wipe the history, scroll to the very bottom of its timeline and tap Delete Timeline.

Please note: This is a permanent action. It will remove the tracker name, all associated photos, and every note from both your device and the household cloud.

Things to consider

To keep Cuppi sustainable and privacy-focused, there are a few things to keep in mind if you are using our Free or Trial tier:

  • You can manage one active tracker at a time.
  • You can add one photo and one note per day to your timeline.
  • To start a new tracker (even after archiving an old one), you’ll need a Cuppi Pro subscription or you need to delete your existing tracker.
