Creating a birthday profile: Inside the Birthdays app, tap the + icon next to the Birthday title to open the creation screen. From there, you can:
Planning the perfect gift
Once a profile is created, you can start jotting down gift ideas directly on their page. If you find the perfect one, mark it with a star so the rest of the family knows which gift is the top choice.
Sometimes life changes, or you might just want to tidy up your list. If you no longer need to keep track of a specific birthday, removing the profile is simple and permanent.
To delete a birthday profile:
Just like that, the profile and all associated gift ideas will be removed from your household, and the notifications for that day will be cleared.
We understand how difficult these moments can be. You shouldn’t have to delete a loved one’s profile just to avoid receiving generic, often painful reminders to celebrate.
For this reason, we have introduced the option to transition a profile to In Memoriam. This transforms their space into a quiet page filled with cherished memories and allows you to adjust or mute notifications.
To begin the transition from a Birthday profile:
To add it through the In Memoriam page:
Convert: tap Add, then Convert, to move an existing birthday profile across.
Add new: choose this to create a new In Memoriam profile from scratch.
We will guide you through the transition step by step, and we frequently encourage you to take all the time you need.
An In Memoriam profile shifts its focus from milestones to reflection. It will display both the date of birth and the date of passing (if added to the profile). If you choose to upload photos to the Memory Wall, they will gently fade onto the page and can be viewed full-screen with a simple tap.
Please note: Once a profile has been transitioned to In Memoriam, it cannot be changed back into a standard Birthday profile.
To maintain a clean, distraction-free appearance, the Edit Profile button is moved to the very bottom of the page.
From there, you can still update:
Just like standard profiles, you retain complete, granular control over your alerts. You can choose to toggle Mute Notifications to turn off reminders entirely, or select specifically which days you would like to be notified: their birth day, their date of passing, or both.
Examples of our gentle reminders:
If you would prefer not to receive any remembrance reminders without having to change every individual profile manually, you can silence them globally:
Note: Turning off the master "Enable Notifications" switch at the top of that settings page will silence all alerts across the app, including standard Birthdays.
Celebrations is the new home for the dates your household cares about. It replaces the old Birthdays app.
Inside you’ll find four sections: Birthdays, Anniversaries, In Memoriam and Bank Holidays. They sit in a scrolling strip at the top. Tap a card to switch section. Your existing birthdays are all still there.
The limit is shared across Birthdays, In Memoriam and Anniversaries together:
Bank Holidays does not count towards your limit.
Birthdays, anniversaries and In Memoriam use reminders on your phone. Each type has its own settings and can be turned On/Off. You can set up to 3 general reminders per type. New installs start with a reminder 7 days before at 07:00 and another on the day at 07:00.
Bank holidays are sent by Cuppi at fixed times: 7 days before and 1 day before, at 9am UK time. These times can’t be changed. They are push notifications and don’t appear in your in-app notification list.
Choose Anniversaries, then tap Add.
Give it a name and a start date. You can link up to two birthday profiles to it, and their photos are used as the avatar. Anniversaries don’t have a photo of their own, and the start date can’t be in the future.
Choose Bank Holidays to see the next holiday at the top, with the upcoming ones below. Past holidays are tucked away under Previous ones. Use the region dropdown to pick England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland or All UK. Substitute bank holidays are included.
The flag badge shows which region you’re viewing. Northern Ireland shows a small “NI” badge because it has no flag emoji.
