Note: "Public" only means visible within your specific Cuppi household - other separate households can never see your data.

When you step into the supermarket, open your list and activate Shopping Mode by tapping the lightbulb or the dedicated trigger.

  • Live Collaboration: It transforms the interface into a high-visibility tracker with enlarged items and text to minimise distractions.
  • Household Pings: The moment you turn it on, other adult household members receive a notification letting them know you are actively shopping. A live green "NOW SHOPPING" badge appears on their home view card, alongside a real-time countdown of remaining items. If they add a forgotten item to the list while you're in the store, it pops up on your screen instantly!
  • Easy Marking: You can tap the checkbox or simply swipe across an item to quickly mark it as "In cart".

Cuppi includes unique convenience features tailored to your current session:

  • Checkbox Flipping: Left-handed or prefer checking boxes on a specific side? Go to your list settings and toggle between Left or Right in the Layout section. This setting only affects your personal view across all lists.
  • Shopping Mode Light/Dark Toggle: If your system is set to Dark Mode but the store's lighting makes the screen hard to read, tap the lightbulb icon in the top-right corner to temporarily flip to Light Mode for your current shopping session.
  • Always-On Display: While in Shopping Mode, your phone screen is prevented from dimming or locking automatically, saving you from constantly re-authenticating with Face ID while pushing a trolley.

🛑 Security Note: Because your screen stays unlocked during Shopping Mode, please keep a firm grip on your phone. If your device is misplaced or snatched, an unauthorised person will have access to your active phone data until it is locked manually.

Cuppi provides a safe sandbox for kids to build digital responsibility. Here is how features adapt when an account has Child permissions:

  • What they CAN do: Children can view shared household lists, add items to them, delete items, enter Shopping Mode, and check items off as "Done" (or untick them) while helping you in the store.
  • What they CANNOT do: Children are strictly restricted from creating Private lists or launching new Shared lists. All list configuration screens and settings cog icons are entirely hidden from their view. They are also excluded from receiving "Now Shopping" alerts and cannot use the Pro Split List aisle assignment feature.
