Chores helps your household keep on top of the regular jobs that keep a home running, like changing the bed sheets, watering the plants or cleaning the washing machine.
You can assign chores to people, choose how often they repeat, tick them off, and get a morning summary of what's due. Adults can also keep private chores that nobody else sees.
Open Chores from the Apps page to get started.
You can also write your own chore from scratch. Give it a title, category and schedule, and add notes or a website if it helps (handy for jobs like changing your address).
Only Owners and Adults can add chores.
When you set a chore to repeat, you choose how it's counted:
A chore can also be set to Once, if it only needs doing one time.
If a chore on a schedule is marked done after its due date, Cuppi asks how you'd like to carry on:
For example, you water the plants every 3 days, starting Monday, and do it on Wednesday. Keep your usual schedule makes the next one Thursday, while Count from today makes it Saturday.
Missed days never pile up. There is only ever one open date for each chore.
When you add or edit a chore, choose who does it under Assigned to:
If a chore is skipped, the turn stays with the same person.
Only Owners and Adults can assign chores.
Children can see the chores assigned to them, mark them done, and undo a completion.
They can't create, edit, delete or assign chores, and they don't see private chores. That stays with the Owner and Adults, so you stay in charge of who does what.
Switch on High priority for jobs you really don't want to forget.
Cuppi reminds whoever has the chore at 9am the day before and on the day, then each morning for 3 days while it's still not done. These reminders are set on your phone, so they work even without a connection.
A household can have up to 5 High priority chores (and up to 3 private ones each), because an iPhone only lets an app schedule a limited number of reminders.
A High priority chore can't be deleted. Switch High priority off first, or pause the chore to hide it.
There are two kinds of chore reminder:
If you'd rather keep chore names private on a phone other people can see, switch off Show chore names. Notifications will then just say that something is due.
You can change all of this in the Chores settings (the cog), or under Notifications & Email in Settings.
Swipe a chore, or use its menu, to Pause or Delete it.
If your active chores are full when you restore one, it comes back inactive.
A High priority chore can't be deleted until you switch High priority off.
Private chores are for jobs that are just for you, like a haircut or Christmas shopping.
Switch on Private when you add or edit a chore. Only you can see it. It never appears in the household's list, on the Home Feed, or in anyone else's notifications.
Private chores are for Owners and Adults, and they can't be assigned, put in rooms or shared in a rota.
On the Free tier you can keep 3 active private chores (10 in total). Cuppi Pro allows 50 active (100 in total).
The Free tier keeps up to 10 chores active at a time for the household, and Cuppi Pro keeps up to 200.
If you add a chore when your active chores are full, it isn't lost. It waits under Inactive Chores until there's room. You can activate it later, or choose Pause it and activate to swap it with a chore you're not using right now.
One-off chores free up their place as soon as they're marked done.
Across active and inactive chores together, a household can keep up to 30 on Free and 300 on Pro.
Rooms are a Cuppi Pro feature that lets you group and sort your chores by where they are.
Deleting a room keeps its chores. They just show as having no room.
Yes. When you add or edit a chore, tap the link row and choose a Shopping list. The chore then shows a link to that list, which makes jobs like "Do the Christmas shopping" a tap away. You can remove the link at any time.
A shared chore can only link to a shared list, so the names of private lists stay private.
